61 Deluxe Ivory
Finally got to put my hands on the Ivory 61 Deluxe's this afternoon. Other than Charlie, I find it interesting that there weren't any comments regarding the size of the serialized runs. I'm guessing the serial numbers may not be as critical as they used to be???

Not sure how many total were run but my serial numbers were well in the mid 30's. AND it's interesting that the COA's on these don't indicate how large the run was, it just states the knife is serial #xx. Some of the early runs of Ivory were really short runs but it looks like this one was a quite a bit larger. It'll be interesting when the 2011 production numbers come out to see just how many were actually run.

Greg...
I think you might be right....at 35 pcs. s/n it might not be that critical....but much larger than that and it no longer remains unique and will lose any collector value

What do you guys think of the fact that on the Ivory they didn't mention on the COA's that it is serial #xx with out saying how many serialized knives were made? Personally, that one really bothers me particularly on that expensive of a knife.

We agree. Due to the cost of the knife, how many made could become a factor

Regardless of handle material I think the COA always needs to state quantities..

On the runs of the more expensive handle materials we will always serialize every knife. If we made a run of Ivory for example in the beginning of the year and then later in the year we make the exact same knife, we will pick up where the serial numbers left off. So to put on the COA that it is a run of lets say 35 pcs. at the beginning of the year then we would not be able to provide more later because we would have used all 35 numbers in the first run. That is why we do not put on the COA how many the run is to allow us to do more within the same year. The #61 Ivory, I can tell you that there were 35 pcs. made.

With a few exceptions. Off the top of my head, I know the Ivory 530411, 121211JN and the 462211's came with neither a serial number nor a COA???
Also, is their a reason why a special blade etch wasn't created for the Ivory. I know all of the other exotics (Primitive, Genuine Stag, Burnt Stag, Mammoth, MOP, etc) have their own etch and it seems odd GEC doesn't do it for the ivory.
