Name the Beaver Voting and Fraud Update
With just a couple days left to vote, the lead has been narrowed to two serious contenders. Betty Beaver and Christine. Even though the voting has slowed down, there's still room for either one of them chew up the lead. I'm going to let this battle continue till Midnite CST July 3rd and we'll let the chips fall where they may.
Very early this morning, I foiled yet another attempt at ballot box tampering. Due to the low light and graininess of the image, a positive ID could not be made but this answers a lot of questions. (Primarily, how do a handful of songbirds consume up to 3#'s of sunflower seeds a day!!)

In addition, another photo seems to have captured what may have been a lookout for the culprits.

Ouch ! Bandits on the loose.
Our baby foxes disappeared about a week ago. We now have birds in the backyard again. Those foxes ARE hunters.

Glad to find out that it was them cause I'd hate to see a songbird that could eat that much seed in a day!

Man, this race is really getting ugly!
American politics is rapidly reaching a new low. Who'd a thunk it?
Thankfully, Greg is on top of it all.
May the best beaver win!
With the contest ending on July 4th this year's fireworks will take on a whole new meaning.
VOTE FOR CHRISTINE!!

Not to change the subject here, but do y'all remember when, in 2007, GEC made a run of #23's in genuine stag, left off the UNXLD shield, and included it as a pin in the tube along with the knife? I'm thinking the Beaver shield would be kinda neat made up with a pin back in this way.
What do you think Greg? Any chance this might be do-able?
At least it could be worn right side up....

You've got a great point. Actually, all of the Genuine Stags come with a "pin" rather then the inlaid shield. I've asked before if there was any chance GEC would consider selling the Un-X-Ld pins as a collectors item and the answer was no. I think based on that, the chances are somewhere between slim and none that a beaver pin would be released.
Several times I've made recommendations that they consider some sort of collectible ranging anywhere from ink pens, mugs, caps, T's and no response. The survey I put up indicated a real interest in this type of item, but GEC doesn't seem to want to go there at this time. I've run TSA Knives can coolers and pens to send out with orders from time to time and always make sure to promote the fact that I'm a Great Eastern distributor. I'm proud of the fact and really want to 'spread the name'!!
Keep the chatter up and who knows, maybe they'll loosen up.

Well, I rather like the idea. Perhaps we'll see something like that at some future time. It's an important part of business advertrising and creates a following of sorts.
I figured 50% of net profits to go to the Wounded Warrior Project and the other 50% towards more sunflower seeds for those little 'coons, so they can grow up big and strong.
(Can you imagine crappin' 3 pounds of sunflower seed hulls every day? Man! They're gonna grow up MEAN!!)

Greg,
At least your little bandits are cute1
I gave up trying to have a bird feeder a long time ago. The squirrels kept throwing it to the ground and chewing through it; this was after they lifted it up to get it off the hook!
Plus, I figured out that the birds spill way more seeds than they eat.
So... now, I put out seed on the sill by the kitchen window for the squirrels and bird seed on the ground for the birds.
A couple of years ago, one mama squirrel would take seeds out of my hand. Her kids don't seem quite as smart.

This is just one more page in the feeder saga. We have anywhere from 4-6 deer that come in the evening and stand on their back legs to get to it. Several years ago we supported a group of up to 16 welfare squirrels. The best one was early one morning a turkey was trying to get seeds by perching on the roof and reaching over the edge. Didn't work, but had to give him credit for tenacity!!!
The pole the feeder is on started out as a 4x4 redwood post about 10 years ago. It now measures about 2.75" x 2.75" from all the little critter claws.

Greg,
I hate to be the one to tell you but the squirrel looks familiar. I think her name is Hazel and she hangs out with a guy that looks a little shady and always has on a pair of sunglasses. You didn't hear it from me
