New 2 Blade Tidioute 89's are in
Got the first group of the 2 bladeTidioute #89 Executive Whittlers in this morning. Great looking and really sleek with just the two blades sandwiched in there. The three shown are Zebra Wood ( only 25 serialized), Red Abalone Looking Glass, and a really Deep Purple Jig Bone. The Red Abalone Looking Glass is a knockout in 'real life'.

Here's a look a the back of the original Executive (Melon) Whittler in the 3 blade configuration and the 'split spring' back.

The top knife is the new 2 blade Exec and the bottom knife is the original 3 blade with the split back. You can see how it's helped slim down the original. From a collectors standpoint, if you've handled one of the originals, you know the tolerances are extremely close to get everything in that trim package. My understanding was that one of the factors that played into the 2 blade version was the problem surrounding "too much in too little space". A very unique design, but there was no margin for error!!

That zebrawood looks nice, but I think(hope) I'm gonna hold out for the gen. stag Northfields. I like the main spear blade so much more than the wharncliffe on this pattern. I might end up buying 89s over and over again...
