Great Eastern Cutlery #66 Knife Giveaway!!! FREE!! No Strings attached!!!
Time for another knife giveaway!
The word is out that there's a new knife coming from Great Eastern Cutlery which will be a model #66. At this point, I don't know anymore about it. In the past, it's been kind of interesting how the 25 morphed into the 26, the 73 to a 72, 53 to 54's etc. So, if that has any meaning does that mean we're going to see a variation on the 61 turning into a 66???
There's been a little speculation in the last week about a possible 6 blade congress, etc so let's fuel the fire a bit more. All you have to do is post a comment to this entry and leave your guess as to what the 66 might be. Once the knife is released (which should be within the next few weeks) all the 'commentors' will be placed in a hat (actually a cap) and the winner will be drawn for a new Model 66! If you've already posted a possiblity, post it again right here. Even if you agree with a previous comment, make sure you post and get your name in the drawing. Multiple comments are fine, but your name only goes in the cap once.
I'd encourage you not to wait to post an idea as the release date is open on this knife. All I've been told is that GEC is trying to get it ready for the Rendezvous coming up in July.
I'll get the ball rolling by pondering whether this could be a combination of a 61 with a 36 coming up with a Sunfish size #66 Congress.

How fun
I would like to see a 6 blade Sleeveboard "Super Carver"
The Little Carvers are neat but a Super Carver would be amazing.

I thought it could be a 53 + half a 26, using the congress frame. so clip and furtaker blades with a small pen blade on the other side, somehow in a congress frame...

I'd like to see it as a swayback jack
with clip and wharn cliff blades

P.S. Greg
I enjoyed your bear cam link and thought you might enjoy this pic I snapped. We counted 4 pups and 1 adult.
They are FAST

Very neat pic!!! Thanks for sharing.
Dont' know if you've been keeping up on the research updates and the bear cam, but there have been a LOT of ups and downs. They shot some really incredible video after they left the den. Unfortunately, there's also been problems keeping the sow with her cub. I know the mortality rate is high in black bear cubs and I hope this isn't going to be one of those situations.

I'm gonna have to stick with my first idea: a 6-bladed Muskrat. They could call it the Minnesota Muskrat.

Of course, there's another possibility; a #60 is a fixed blade model with about a 4" drop point blade. A #66 could be a 6" version.

WOW!!! What a great idea. I want one

i'll stick with my original guess - a 6-bladed congress.

they made all them big ol straight blades, hope it is a little drop point skinner, about a 1"x 3" blade, with maybe a working mans handle, blood red

I believe that what you are describing is the #10 fixed blade.

I'm with you Greg .... my speculation is the #66 will be a 4-blade Congress, super-sized into a Sunfish body!

A Con-Fish? Fish-Gress? Sun-Gress?
No...definitely Con-Fish.

A sowbelly.

I'm gonna guess it's a Peanut. Not because I think so, but because I want it to be so. Fat chance, I know...

Biggie, good attitude.... "Hope springs eternal....."

Why not 2 clip blades, or even 3, with pen on a large framed congress/muskrat hybrid??

A hybrid muskrat, .....wouldn't that be a mink?

Very funny Greg, haha. No, I think that would be a called a congressional rat, which we have too many now in DC.

you just hit the nail on the head!!!! If they come out with a 6 blade congress.... it should be a Congressional Rat. Excellent!!!

well if we are all going by what we actually want to see, I like trappers and i like sunfish, so... 'fishtrap'? I thought i liked jacks too, but now i'm not even sure what a jack is... (i think i had it confused with a trapper) but in case i'm wrong, there's 'jacksun' as well.

Let's assume it uses the 61 frame, Could be a nice Texas Jack with modified pen-blade,side by side nail nicks. Or you could use the single spring pattern and make a mouth watering Norfolk with swedged Wharncliffe..YES!

I would like to see the 'regular production' blade config be a jack style, one clip point large blade and one smaller pen blade.

I will say a serpentine muskrat with a modified wharncliffe and regular muskrat clip blade.
But I would like a 6 blade congress or a whittler.

Maybe a Corvette shaped handle in a 2 blade jack. What do ya think?
