Red Water Buffalo #73
Well, the Northfield Red Water Buff #73 that Greg gave me to evaluate came in the mail today. First impressions. I thought for some reason that it was a linerlock, but I was pleased to find it is a slip joint. Also I am surprised to find it has a convex edge. Excellent smooth action, firm snap, solid half stop. Overall fit and finish is right up there with my Schatt & Morgan, Northwoods, and Northwoods MSA folders. I've given it a little lube, and some Simichrome to the bolsters 'cause I like shiny stuff. Man it's almost too pretty to use, but I promised Greg.
It's first chore was to open my Wife's Social Security benefit notification letter which also came in the mail today. Not too tough for the knife, but sure made for a super day. More duties to follow as we go on. Maybe pictures if I can figure out how. (Any tips on this would be appreciated.)
Next, since I have some red soft back upholstery leather, I have to make one of my little pocket slips for it.
For now, thanks a lot Greg.
Stay tuned.

Jaxon, just a quick note. The Great Easterns DO come with a traditional flat grind. I use a leather strop on all of my knives and as a result, all of my knives end up with a convex grind!! It's a pretty rare situation that I put a knife on a stone or grinding wheel and If I do, it gets a thorough stropping before it goes back into service.
